What is a Product?? This is the first question when a naive user wants to know about Siebel Products. As Siebel is a CRM application which is majorly used in Telecommunication, Pharmacy, banking etc., let us continue to use all the terms going forward w.r.to these Industries.
Technically in Siebel, a product is nothing but a Physical or a virtual Object which an end customer pays for or gets the service for. In other words, you can also say, whatever customer pays for a company is related to a Siebel Product.
E.g.: Book, Keyboard, Computer, Mobile line (In telecommunications), Website, a Server, an Offer for purchase of goods, Penalty, SIM Change Charges (when you lose your SIM Card and need to pay for new SIM) etc.
In Siebel there are different types of Products you can deal with, they are
- Simple Products without Attributes
- Simple Products with Attributes
- Products with Components
Simple Products without Attributes
These are the products which customer do not make any decision with product features or variants.
E.g.: Set Up Charges for a Internet Broad band Connection.
Simple Products with Attributes
A product may have different features like a Shirt may have its color, size and type. CPU can have attributes like RAM Memory Size, Processor Speed, Hard disk memory etc. These types of features can be added to Siebel Products as attributes for the products
